About Sojourn Club Founders
On April 2019, we embarked on a trip following the path of the Civil Rights Movement through the South with “Sojourn to the Past” that opened our eyes. We had previously learned of racial injustice and inequality in history classes, yet we did not connect our history of injustice to the lasting, and seemingly more inconspicuous inequities in today’s society; this includes racial bias in the criminal justice system, unequal access to education, and homelessness.
We’re so grateful to have embarked on that journey, yet no one should have to travel through the South to know of the ongoing inequities today. Therefore, our mission is to raise awareness around the persistent racial barriers and inequalities and initiate change.
Through presentations, movies, museums, discussions, and action, we hope to tackle the injustices one club meeting at a time.
We hope you join us on this journey in promoting peace and justice.
Yours truly,
Co-Founders of the Sojourn Social Justice Club at Campolindo High School
Juliette Barlier and Nina Naffziger
